Thematic Area
Sustainable Development Goal 6 is a global commitment to ensure safe drinking water and sanitation for all. Since the launch of Swachh Bharat Mission-II and Jal Jeevan Mission, there has been steady progress in achieving ODF plus villages and providing Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTC) respectively.
Shrushti believes there is an urgent need to invest in the capacities of the panchayat to plan, design and manage WASH efforts. So with our every effort, we are trying to ensure drinking water security for rural citizens. We believe people living in rural habitations and villages have an important responsibility to decide how much water they have and how they use it, and what measures they must take to ensure drinking water security. So with our interventions, we are building capacity of gram panchayat representatives and Village water & sanitation committee members to take lead in achieving this goal of drinking water security. We are not building the capacity of Gram panchayat & VWSC members but also mobilizing the community, educating them, and ensuring that they get the necessary training and technical support to achieve drinking water security. We are also strengthening gram sabha to become the main platform for taking decisions and approving plans.
Shrushti has been empanelled with Ministry of Jal Shakti as Key Resource Center to training programs in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. We are also leading Jal Jeevan Mission in Udaipur, Barmer and Dungarpur district of Rajasthan as Implementing Support Agency with Water & Sanitation Support Organization.
